The program
- What is Hive Studios?
- Hive Studios is Hexagon Hive's flagship program: an 18-week leadership and workforce-development experience for high school students that uses the professional filmmaking process as its environment. Filmmaking is the environment; leadership is the curriculum.
- Is this a film class?
- No. Students learn the filmmaking process, but the program is built to develop leadership, communication, collaboration, and professional execution. The production is the setting that makes those behaviors necessary.
- How long is the program?
- Eighteen weeks, structured across six phases: foundation, development, pre-production, production, post-production, and presentation with reflection.
- Do students need prior filmmaking experience?
- No. The program begins by establishing roles, standards, and how a professional production is organized before any production work starts.
Logistics + delivery
- How many students are in a cohort?
- Standard cohorts run 20–30 students. Pricing illustrations across the site use a 25-student cohort.
- Who delivers the program in our school?
- That depends on the program option you select. Options range from your own team delivering the program using the Hive Studios structure and materials, through to Hive Studios running the experience with deeper on-site support.
- How does the program fit our academic calendar?
- The 18-week arc is mapped to your schedule, session length, and available space during planning, before the program is confirmed.
- How do we get started?
- Request a custom proposal or book a program call. Both begin with a conversation about your students, calendar, and budget before any figures are finalized.
Pricing
- How is pricing structured?
- Each program option combines a base licensing fee with a per-student access fee. Full figures for every tier, including totals illustrated at a 25-student cohort, are published on the Program Options page.
- What if our budget doesn't match a published tier?
- Hive Custom is built around your budget. Scope and support level are shaped to what your institution can commit, and your proposal reflects your actual cohort size.
Sponsorship
- Can sponsors pay for the program?
- Yes. The sponsor-funded path helps your institution build a funding case and approach local employers, foundations, alumni, or civic partners. Partial sponsorship is common — any amount raised reduces your institutional contribution.
- What do sponsors receive?
- Sponsors fund a defined cohort at a named institution and receive documentation of how the program ran and what was produced.
Student safety + media
- How is student media handled?
- Student media is only used or published where written consent is on file. Display rules for names and credits are set with your institution before anything is shared.
Outcomes
- Do you publish outcome statistics?
- Only verified ones. Hexagon Hive does not publish performance figures it has not measured. The Outcomes page describes what the program is designed to develop and how that is evidenced; measured results will be published with their source as they become available.
